On our way home from Jaemor Farms, we checked Google for lunch recommendations in Gainesville. 2 Dog Cafe stood out with 4+ Stars and the description Soul Food, Rustic and homey clinched our choice. The place was well packed for 1:30 on a Friday. Offering the standard fare of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, soup and salads, the resulting dishes were anything but typical. My Shrimp, Artichoke Bruschetta Salad was delicious. Available in whole and half sizes, I still got six skewered, grilled shrimp on the half along with a big chunk of their homemade bread.
The style of the 2 Dog Cafe is the oft-used “eclectic”. An older home, converted to a corner cafe, two of the walls are covered in wine corks that took two years to complete per the bartender. Oil drawings of, you guessed it, two dogs, trim decorated with bottle caps and sconces made of large tin cans adorn the walls. Industrial lights and chandeliers make up the ceiling lighting. A cozy bar and German Smear fireplace complete the interior design. The outside patio, where dogs are welcome, is your typical outside eating space, comfy on the nice afternoon we experienced.
2 Dog Cafe is open for lunch Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00am – 3:00pm, dinner Wednesday – Saturday 5:00pm – 10:00pm and Sunday Brunch, 10:00am – 2:00pm. located at: 317 Spring St SE, Gainesville, GA 30501

The hubby and I highly recommend 2 Dog Cafe if you’re ever up that way. In fact, a day trip just to check out the fast growing town of Gainesville or the Atlanta Botanical Gardens nearby, is not a bad idea, especially if you include lunch at 2 Dog.
Check out my half salad. It looked so good, I almost forgot to take a picture before I dug in.
